Microsoft Awards over $234,000 in Software to United Way NCA

WASHINGTON, DC – In July, Microsoft Corporation awarded over $234,000 in software, support and training to United Way of the National Area (United Way NCA).

The new software will help United Way NCA implement a major organizational change. For the first time, internal departments will have the capabilities to interact and share information and resources across the organization through a web-based intranet portal.

“Instituting a web-based intranet will dramatically augment our internal communications to reinforce both mission alignment and customer focus, creating and sustaining the cultural change within our staff,” said Anthony Paul, Senior Director of Information Technology, United Way NCA.

“We’re ecstatic to have this new software tool, which will allow us to work more efficiently and effectively to achieve our mission,” said Bill Hanbury, President and CEO of United Way NCA.  “We’re extremely grateful for Microsoft’s continued support of United Way NCA, which is a true testament to their passion of giving back to the community.”

In 2010, Microsoft donated $603 million in cash and software to charitable organizations around the world, including $14.3 million in cash and software to United Way, the number-one recipient of Microsoft employee gifts and corporate matching funds. In May 2011, Microsoft was honored with two United Way Summit Awards for the company’s generosity and for innovative technology and software programs focused on improving education.
