Catalogue for Philanthropy Welcomes Nonprofits

In these difficult times, nonprofits are facing an ever increasing demand for their services while at the same time seeing increased competition for donations and support. It’s a heavy lift, and the nonprofit community has to work in concert to achieve the best results for our caring community.

United Way of the National Capital Area is all about building bridges. We have been making the connection between financial resources and great causes for over three decades, and have pursued and obtained new and innovative ways to help nonprofits get the resources they need.

For nonprofits with annual budgets of less than $3 million, the Catalogue for Philanthropy provides another way to tap into donors from around the region. They are currently taking applications for inclusion in their publication. The deadline to apply is February 13th. For more information or to apply, visit their website.

Autism Society of Northern Virginia: De la Cruz Family Finds Hope through Connection

Kolette De la Cruz tells in her own words how the Autism Society of Northern Virginia helped her family find a ray of hope through connecting with a supportive community.

"I became a member of the Walk shortly after my son was diagnosed with autism. I have two lovely children, Logan (3) and Grace (19 months). My son, Logan was diagnosed with regressive autism at 21 months of age (meaning that he had normal development and then lost all language, communication and social skills). We as a family were devastated. We had just given birth to our daughter when we noticed our son had somehow slipped away from us."
