Volunteer engagement:  Volunteers to float and help route monitors, cheer participants across the finish line, breakdown stations and general clean-up.

Minimum volunteer age:  10 – 17 years of age must have written consent from parent or guardian. No volunteers under 10 years old.

Title:  Project Homeless Connect – Set Up – (Washington, DC)

Time:  7:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M.  

Location:  Kennedy Recreation Center (1401 7th St NW, Washington, DC 20001)

Nearest Metro Rail:  Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center (Green and Yellow Line); 5 minute walk - METRO (Bus or Rail) IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Parking:  Limited, metered, residential parking; HIGH PARKING ENFORCEMENT AREA

Volunteer engagement:  This role is crucial to the success of our event! Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up. Duties include unloading supplies and materials, arranging tables and chairs, hanging signs and other tasks. The ability to lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs. is helpful.  

Attire:  Clean, relaxed, casual clothing appropriate for weather conditions and comfortable closed-toe shoes.

Time:  9:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.

Volunteer engagement:  Participant guides are the first point of contact for participants (people experiencing homelessness) at the event. This role is crucial in helping to engage participants. Volunteers will guide participants from Check-In to their first service area and help them to navigate throughout the event. Volunteering as a Participant Guide is a great way to introduce you to our program and gain a broad understanding of the various services available at the event.

Volunteer engagement:  Come and help us breakdown the event! Duties include: breaking down and stacking tables and chairs, collecting signs, stacking barricades, cleaning up and sweeping, dismantling tents, and other tasks as assigned. The ability to lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs is helpful.
