Get Help

Crisis, hunger and homelessness can happen at any time, to anyone. At United Way NCA, connecting people in need with local resources and assistance is a critical part of our mission.

If you or someone you know needs help, contact 2-1-1 metrodc.

2-1-1 is a federal program, which is managed locally by United Way NCA and its workgroup partners. 2-1-1 is a non-emergency telephone number. It is a powerful and free tool that helps individuals and families access basic needs support.

Call specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They assess callers’ needs and connect them to health and human services agencies and nonprofits that can help.

Get the help that you need. Please call 2-1-1.

If you need help paying for your prescription medications, there’s hope.

Prescription medications can be extremely expensive. To ease the burden for individuals and families United Way NCA offers discounts on prescription medications through the free FamilyWize discount card.

With the FamilyWize card there are no forms to fill out, there is no waiting period and no registration. The card serves as a reusable coupon on FDA-approved medicines.

To get your FamilyWize card, you can print your card here or text “Family” to 700700 to get a free card sent to your phone.

For nonprofit organizations that wish to hand out cards to your clients, please feel free to contact our FamilyWize liaison, Carol Brain by email at or by calling (800) 222-2818, ext. 127.
