Thank You for Being a Hero
The greatest help for the Washington community comes from everyday heroes, like you. On behalf of United Way of the National Capital Area and our member nonprofits, thank you for coming to the rescue of those in need in our community. Amazing things happen when we stand United.
About the Combined Federal Campaign
The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the largest and most successful workplace giving campaign in the world. Over the last five decades, federal employees have generously pledged more than $7 billion dollars to nonprofit organizations, including many that are United Way of the National Capital Area (United Way NCA) members.
Just this past year, United Way NCA and its member nonprofit organizations received more than $14.2 million in donations by federal employees through the 2011 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), which included CFCNCA, Chesapeake Bay Area CFC and St. Mary’s County CFC. The largest of the three campaigns, CFCNCA, raised more than $13.5 million for the United Way NCA federation and a total of $64.3 million for thousands of nonprofits located throughout the greater Washington area.
This year’s CFC campaign had an impressive result. Even as our area (and many areas across the country) faced economic challenges over the course of this past year, federal employees have come together to make our neighborhoods and community a better place…and revealed the power of Living United. United Way NCA and its member organizations thank federal employees for their continued generosity and support!

The CFC of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA) in the Washington, DC metro area is the largest in the CFC system. Last year, over 150,000 civilian and federal employees raised $67 million for thousands of charities. Federal employees pledged over $11.5 million to United Way NCA and its member organizations.
