Financial Literacy
United Way NCA believes that area residents that understand the best money management options and the importance of banking, budgeting and savings will be better equipped to ensure a more successful future. To that end, we are developing Financial Forums for the underserved and under-banked. These forums will introduce area residents to organizations, tips and tools that can assist in family budgeting, banking options, when and how to use credit and more. Watch for announcements for the next Financial Forum.
In addition, with the help of our partners Capital Area Asset Builders (CAAB), Northern Virginia Cash Campaign/Fairfax County Department of Family Services (NoVa CASH), and One Economy and the Mobile Tax Van, United Way NCA helps low-to-moderate income families learn how to take advantage of Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), file tax returns and maximize their tax returns. By coordinating volunteer tax preparers, and providing access to computers and software for self-filing to underserved residents, we are able to put millions of dollars into the hands of the people who need it most. The EITC program is supported through generous grants from by Bank of America and The Walmart Foundation.

We had the privilege of having two children at Camp Fire, both adopted with special needs and identified as having serious learning and behavioral problems, participate in our program.
