Get Connected
Motivating your employees to support United Way NCA, its initiatives, and its nonprofit partners is crucial to the success of your workplace campaign. What's the key to getting their support? Arming them with the information they need to make informed decisions. United Way NCA offers many resources to help you inform, educate, and encourage potential contributors. Below are just a few examples.
Speakers Bureau
Speakers, campaign leaders, and volunteers can effectively bring the United Way message to your organization by making brief presentations at group meetings. We can also send representatives from our nonprofit partners to speak or demonstrate their services.
Lunch & Learn Brown Bag Series
The Lunch & Learn Brown Bag series brings a United Way NCA member nonprofit speaker into your workplace for an engaging and interactive hour-long information session on a myriad of topics, including:
- The importance of financial education and budgeting for low-income families;
- The realities of homelessness, poverty and hunger in our community;
- The significance of volunteering and mentoring in your local community; and,
- The importance of health care for impoverished citizens in our region, among others.
These sessions will enable your employees to gain valuable insight into issues impacting the community. There is no cost to your company or individuals, and the presentations will not be used to solicit financial support. All you need to do is provide the space for your co-workers to hear the speaker and request they bring a brown bag lunch. Please request your member nonprofit speaker at least 14 business days prior to your Lunch & Learn Brown Bag series date to ensure we are able to fill your request.

Days of Caring Volunteer Opportunities
United Way's Day of Caring is a special service project that builds partnerships between United Way, member nonprofits, community volunteers, and employees from area workplaces. Each year, members of United Way's network of member nonprofits and other participating organizations design hands-on projects for corporate volunteers. By participating, volunteers gain a deeper understanding of our region's social service community and the work that United Way and local nonprofit profits do every day of the year. To better balance the community needs with workplace availability, a custom Day of Caring volunteer opportunity can be planned for your organization any day of the year.
Day of Caring Volunteer Opportunities Offer Workplaces
- An opportunity for team building
- A proven morale booster for employees
- A chance for employees to help others through hands-on experience
- An opportunity for employees to see how agencies use campaign dollars in the community
- An opportunity for you to position your company as a good corporate neighbor and leverage your philanthropic activities
