The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the largest and most successful workplace giving campaign in the world. Every fall, CFC provides federal, military and postal personnel the opportunity to donate to their charity or charities of choice through their workplace. For many years, United Way of the National Capital Area (NCA) has been a leader in supporting federal employees interested in giving to individuals and families in need throughout the Washington and Baltimore metro region.
In 2011, the CFC turns an amazing 50 years old! Over the last five decades, federal employees have pledged over $7 billion dollars to nonprofit organizations including many that are United Way NCA members. To celebrate this wonderful milestone, CFC campaigns across the country and in our area will be unveiling a new CFC logo; introducing new campaign events and activities; increasing awareness of local, national and international needs; and encouraging individuals to join hands in something bigger than themselves.
United Way NCA is working for you to make sure that our member organizations are getting the most out of the three CFC campaigns that we participate in - Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA), Chesapeake Bay Area CFC and St Mary's County CFC. . Beginning in 2012, United Way NCA will also participate, along with all member non-profits, in the Potomac CFC campaign covering Dahlgren, Fort A.P. Hill, and the Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia. The CFC of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA) is the largest in the CFC system. Last year, over 150,000 civilian and federal employees raised $67 million for thousands of charities in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Federal employees pledged over $11.5 million to United Way NCA and its member organizations. No matter differences in background, perspectives or politics, many came together to make our community a better place.
