In order to accomplish our mission, United Way of the National Capital Area relies heavily on the support of volunteers in each of the communities that we serve. For each of our eight jurisdictions (Alexandria, Arlington, District of Columbia, Fairfax/Falls Church, Loudoun County, Montgomery County, Prince George's County, and Prince William County) Regional Councils have been established. These groups consist of volunteers from the business, public, and nonprofit sectors in their respective communities.
Members of these Regional Councils are key players in raising community awareness for United Way NCA, securing financial support for United Way NCA's campaign, and overseeing the Community Impact Fund grant allocations for their region. Most importantly, Regional Council members serve as representatives of their respective communities. Because Regional Council members are prominent members of their community, they are able to advise United Way NCA about the unique situations and needs in their regions. Moreover, a representative from each of the Regional Councils sits on the United Way NCA Board of Directors, ensuring that each jurisdiction is represented in United Way NCA's leadership.
