Linda Perkins

Director, Member Services

Linda Perkins has worked in both public and private sectors with broad experiences in management and work in community outreach making her well positioned to lead our Community Impact programs and initiatives. Linda was Director of Membership Development for the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh and served as a housing administrator at the University of Pittsburgh before moving to the national capital area. She served as Director of Community Outreach under the previous Mayor Williams administration in Washington, DC as well as for DC Council member Vincent Orange. In both capacities she acted as the community "face" for major outreach projects which include two city-wide DC Citizen Summits.

Her volunteer experience includes being on the boards for several local non-profit organizations, working with organizations for children and in local and national political campaigns. She holds a B.S. degree in Business from the University of Pittsburgh and completed coursework at George Washington University to become a Certified Public Manager. Linda is also Cafritiz finalist of the DC Distinguished Employees in Government.

Autism Society of Northern Virginia: De la Cruz Family Finds Hope through Connection

Kolette De la Cruz tells in her own words how the Autism Society of Northern Virginia helped her family find a ray of hope through connecting with a supportive community.

"I became a member of the Walk shortly after my son was diagnosed with autism. I have two lovely children, Logan (3) and Grace (19 months). My son, Logan was diagnosed with regressive autism at 21 months of age (meaning that he had normal development and then lost all language, communication and social skills). We as a family were devastated. We had just given birth to our daughter when we noticed our son had somehow slipped away from us."
