Bethesda Cares: A Home for Alex
Alex stands in silent awe in his new apartment. Never mind that the bed hasn't arrived; he is sleeping safely, inside, in a place of his own, for the first time in 16 years. Occasionally a friend would let him sleep on the couch but, for the most of this time, he's been sleeping on the street.




Bruce and Brian Lee are typical 30-somethings; their careers and their social lives are top priorities. They have turned to The Arc Prince George's County, which serves people with developmental disabilities, for support in both of these areas.
Monica had a good job and savings, but after her employer suddenly went out of business, she struggled to support herself and her two children. Our Daily Bread provided financial support to help her stay current on her bills and provided short-term food assistance.
Vernon Lancaster came to the Mission looking for a new home and ended up saving his life, too. Vernon's rooming situation wasn't working out; his previously friendly landlord became angry and volatile. Friends encouraged him to leave, but he had no place to go.
