Korean Community Service Center of Greater Washington, Inc: Connecting Clients with Resources

Ms. Kim came to KCSC in September 2011 with her friend who is a former client of the organization. During the intake assessment, KCSC learned that her husband passed away several years ago and that she doesn’t have much income. Until that point, Ms. Kim wasn’t aware that she was entitled to any benefits.

During the next couple of months, KCSC assisted her in applying for:

  • food stamps,
  • medical assistance,
  • survivor’s benefits,
  • information on housing,
  • other benefits as needed.

With government subsidized income - and other benefits such as health clinic and state sponsored health care - Ms. Kim is now able to get her much needed high blood pressure medicine on a regular basis. In addition, she is currently on the waiting list for senior housing.
